Enjoy the mountains and mopane forests at Bambatsi Guest Farm in Damaraland. Then, it’s Etosha National Park time! KALAHARI

Kalahari –  This desert covers eastern and southern Namibia and was inhabited by the San people (Bushmen). Experience the unique red dunes and the unusual flora and fauna. See if you can spot the famous Black-maned Kalahari Lion.

2 Nights in Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch (3*)

Choose an elegant dune chalet or garden room with African colonial-style décor, or one of the campsites which each have private toilets and showers. Enjoy the bar at sunset, then eat dinner cooked in their international kitchen. Star-gaze and look for wild cats and owls on a night-time safari. In the morning, ride a horse through the dunes or walk with the Bushmen (San) to learn their ancient traditions. Spot antelope, ostriches, giraffes and meerkat and enjoy a cheetah feeding experience.

FISH RIVER CANYON

Fish River Canyon – The largest canyon in Africa, 160 km long, 27 km wide and about 550 meters deep.  This dramatic, 500 million-year-old geological wonder is one of Namibia’s top tourist destinations.

2 Nights in Fish River Lodge (3*)

Fish River Lodge, located on the rim of the Canyon. The lodges’ dry stone walls mimic your surroundings. The 20 comfortable chalets have tall windows and wrap-around decks. A cool rim pool and cozy fires provide relief in the extreme summers and winters. Rates include breakfast and dinner. Lunch is available at the a la carte restaurant or a lunch pack can be arranged. Hike, cycle or join a canyon drive to experience the canyon’s grandeur.

LUDERITZ

Luderitz, which is a small, charming town on the Atlantic Ocean coast in southwestern Namibia. Founded by German trader, Adolf Lüderitz, in 1883, its German colonial architecture survives to this day.

2 Nights in Zur Waterkant Guesthouse (3*)

Zur Waterkant Guesthouse, situated in a quiet part of town, offers 4 spacious, stylish rooms with balconies and en-suite bathrooms and 2 self-catering rooms. Breakfast is included. Take a city tour, peninsula tour, visit the agate beach, see oryx and flamingos and springbok, tour Kolmanskop (an abandoned diamond town), see  Bogenfels rock arch, Second Lagoon, Sturmvogel Bay (old whaling station), Diaz Point, Eberlanz Cave or  the wild horses in the southern Namib.

TIRASBERG

Tirasberg, a remote mountain range in southern Namibia. The Tirasberg Conservancy is an area set aside by 4 neighbouring farms. Take in the beautiful rugged scenery, rock formations and hardy plants growing between the rocks.

2 Nights in Namtib Desert Lodge (3*)

Namtib Desert Lodge, nestled in a valley of the Tiras Mountains, offers tranquillity, silence, and vast open spaces. Guests are limited to a maximum of 16. The five bungalows, one family chalet and two single rooms are unpretentious, colourful and rustic. Enjoy home-cooked breakfasts and dinners (featuring game meat) with your hosts, Linn and Thorsten Theile. Explore the Namtib Biosphere Reserve on one of the 3 hiking trails. Nature drives provide endless opportunities for photographs.

Sossusvlei a salt and clay pan surrounded by high red dunes, located in the southern part of the Namib Desert. The pan and the surrounding area are one of the major tourist attractions of Namibia.

2 Nights in Sossusvlei Desert Lodge (5*)

Sossusvlei Lodge, at Namib Naukluft Park’s entrance gate. The superior accommodation units feature patios, air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms. Breakfast and dinner are buffets and lunch is the meal of the day or an a la carte menu at Sossusvlei Lodge Bar. Swakopmund: a coastal city west of Windhoek, with beautiful sandy beaches. Established by German colonists in 1892, its landmarks are the Lighthouse and the Mole, an old sea wall. The Museum houses more of the local history.

DAMARALAND

Damaraland, a name given to the north-central part of what later became Namibia. It was inhabited by the Damaras. This mountainous, barren  region  is home to elephant, rhino, zebra and lion.

2 Nights in Bambetsi Guest Farm (3*)

Bambatsi Guest Farm lies on a giant ridge and the farmhouse is built on a plateau. Their spacious bungalows have en-suite bathrooms and private patios to watch the sunsets or the game at the water hole. The rates include dinner and breakfast and coffee/tea and cake in the afternoons. This area enjoys a wonderful climate throughout the year. Take walks through the mountains or mopane forest, enjoy the pool or bar or a day trip to the “Fingerklippe”, Twyfelfontein or the fossilized forest.

Drive from Bambatsi Guest Farm to Okaukuejo Camp

OKAUKUEJO

Okaukuejo – Famous for its floodlit waterhole, Okaukuejo is located in the southern part of Etosha National Park. Formerly a military outpost, Okaukuejo was founded in 1901 and its characteristic stone tower was added in 1963.

2 Nights in Okaukuejo Camp (3*)

Okaukuejo Camp – Stay in a Waterhole Chalet overlooking the waterhole, Bush Chalet with a lounge and braai area or Double Room, all with en-suite bathrooms. The camp also has a restaurant and bar, petrol station, shop and swimming pool. The waterhole is a hub of animal activity and is floodlit after sunset. Etosha has an abundance of wildlife and birds. After good rains, the salt pan fills with water, attracting a cloud of flamingos.

Onguma, located on the eastern side of Etosha National Park and adjacent to the Fisher Pan, is one of Namibia’s best kept secrets! Here you have the opportunity to experience Africa in all its beauty and diversity. The Onguma Game Reserve has over 34,000 hectares of protected nature and wildlife.

1 Night in Onguma Bush Camp (4*)

Onguma Bush Camp, situated on the eastern border of Etosha National Park, offers 18 rooms. Choose between standard loft rooms, deluxe rooms, family units, rondavels, the settler’s room or tour guide rooms. Enjoy the swimming pool, thatched bar, lounge and dining area overlooking the waterhole. Waterberg Plateau, which rises from the plains to a height of 200 metres. It was declared a national park in 1972 and is home to rare game such as sable, buffalo, black and white rhino.

2 Nights in Waterberg Wilderness Lodge (3*)

Waterberg Wilderness Lodge, with the ambiance of the former farm, surrounded by a well-kept garden and built from red Waterberg sandstone, offers 10 striking double rooms and 4 family rooms with showers, sitting areas and a veranda restaurant (set dinner menu) and a tea garden and bar. Rates include dinner and breakfast. A lunch menu is available on site. Enjoy the spring water swimming pool.
